I suppose he is already named as there is usually no difficulty in finding a name for the first baby. I know he will be a good baby for his parents are so kind and helpful to everyone. I really feel as if I must hurry up my visit to Minneapolis I and so anxious to see you and the dear little baby. I an enjoying Maude's visit very much indeed, and will be very sorry when the time comes for her to go home. We are enjoying the Thomas concerts very much. Mrs. Dawson, Maude, and I went last night. Otis poor fellow, had to take a customer to the theatre. Yesterday afternoon Mrs. D. and I went over to the North Side. She wanted to call on some friends and I went on to Mrs. Walworth's. I found Tom McKinglet, his wife and sister there. They expected to start for eastern watering places last evening. Maude and Mrs. Dawson are going "down town" this morning and as they will soon be ready to go I will not write much this time. I do hope you will get well very soon dear sister, and that you may be fortunate enough to have a good girl to do your work so that the minor cares of life may not trouble you. With an abundance of love for you and my latest nephew I am as ever Your loving sister Sarah ____________ Chicago April 12th 1890 Dear Fannie and Charlie, We were very much pleased to get your telegram of yesterday announcing the safe arrival of your little boy. What a nice trio of boys you will have. This last one seems to have got a better start than the others in weight. I suppose the next thing will be to find a name good enough. There are so many boys now in the family, that it will take a variety of names to go around. I wrote to Fannie day before yesterday. We rec'd a letter from Flora this morning. Miss Eliza has been quite sick but was some better. We had a letter from Mrs. T. J Hale also yesterday saying that they would make us a visit in about two weeks. Otis and Ed went to Terra Haute Thursday night and returned this morning. They are jubilant over the stock car business. Otis and I send our heart felt congratulations, and good wishes for the health and happiness and prosperity of Baby Bewster and his parents. Lovingly Your Sister, Sarah P.S. You see by the paper that I am at Fields. I took advantage of having to wait for a train to write these few lines. I never can remember your house number. I hope I have the office number right. Envelope: return address 5859 Washington Ave, Chicago; addressed to Mr. & Mrs C. E. Brewster, Globe Building, Minneapolis, Minn ______________ 1891 - 3 April - Los Angeles Herald, Volume 35, Number 170 Mr. and Mrs. Otis Jones of Chicago are at the Westminster _____________ A transcription of a letter written by Sarah to her mother, Nancy Stockton Edwards, and her (Sarah’s) sister, Laura Maud follows: 67 - E. 34th Place Chicago March 11th 1898 Dear Mother and Maud: I was very glad to hear from you yesterday. (Your letter and mother's note of March 9th) Do not be afraid, mother: for I know you will soon feel all right. I can speak with authority, for the assurance has been given me by Divine Love, that this apparent condition of error is but temporary; a mist that the light of Truth will quickly destroy. When error seems to speak, drive it away with the thought that "Infinite Love is infinite protection: and the response will come. Good is omnipotent, and error has no power. You are not under the dominion of mortal mind: you are not in bondage to fear. The eternal law of Love has set you free; round about you are the "Everlasting Arms", the loving care of the One Father -Mother -God. You can not for one instant be without this protection; it is your right - your inheritance as God's idea - His child. In this is your life and your strength, divine - eternal. In and of ourselves we can do nothing; The healing does not depend on us, it is Divine Love that does the work: we must constantly realize this fact, and the nothingness of every claim of error, then shall we know that health is an everlasting fact, and disease its opposite falsity. I had written thus far, when your letter came Maud. Truly there is no separation in Truth. Your demonstration over the fall was beautiful and rejoices my heart. Surely Love is omnipresent, a present help in time of need. Dear mother, there is no power that can resist the Perfect, the Eternal the One altogether lovely. The chains of error are broken by the White Christ - the Spirit of Truth. He has delivered you "from the snare of the fowler." Your God-given right to health and happiness, nothing can take from you. Resist with all your power every suggestion of pain, dizziness or weakness; for in this very resistance you will find your strength. It is impossible to overcome evil by giving up to it: you must in and with the strength of divine Intelligence, rise and declare your power to trample over all sin -sickness and death. I am helping you to make this declaration, through my realization of the One Mind and the fat that this as all the governs us. I really think that starting later than you had intended, on your trip will make it more pleasant for you. Otis has not found out whether he can get any cheaper tickets yet, but will do so as soon as he can. He sends much love. With love to all. Your ever loving Sarah __________________ 1899 - California Death Index - hand recorded Death Register for Los Angeles - gives 2727 Ellendale as last address, and pernicious anemia as the cause of death.
