 Valeria Aileen (Butzloff) Myers died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009. She was 84. Born in Tampa, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel Butzloff. She was a retired nurse whose career included several years at Abington Hospital and who was recognized for her empathy with patients. She was an active nursing home volunteer well into her 70s. A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Charles Hardy Myers, and her two daughters, Cheryl Hiser (Nicholas) of Warrington, and Mary Cantando (John) of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with a sixth due in three weeks. "Lica" is also survived by her beloved sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Kelly of Jenkintown and 11 nieces. Her two brothers, Joseph Paul Butzloff Jr. formerly of Philadelphia and Carl John "Jack" Butzloff formerly of Jenkintown preceded her in death. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Immaculate Conception Church, 602 West Ave. in Jenkintown, with a Funeral Mass following at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to your favorite charity. Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home, Jenkintown.
