a. Note:   Gregory was interested in cullinary arts and wanted to become a chef. He was planning to enter the culinary arts program at Grand Rapids Community College in the fall of 1986. Gregory died on July 13, 1986 in an automobile accident on I-96 near Howell in Livingston County, Michigan. He and a friend were returning from an outing at the Cedar Point Amusement Park on Lake Erie. Gregory was driving and apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a tree. His parents, Charles and Judith Monk subsequently learned that the two boys had run out of cash while at the park, and although they had camping equipment with them, they could not afford to rent a campsite. They attempted to drive home to Grand Rapids after being awake for more than 24 hours. Family members and friends attended his funeral in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the O'Brien-Gerst Chapel.
