Notes
a. Note:   William B. Taylor was born August 23, 1837 in Monroe County, Indiana. In the 1860 U.S. Census, William and his brother Francis M. Taylor are shown working as potters in Winslow, Monroe Township, Pike County, Indiana. In the 1870 U.S. Census, William was working as a farmer in Solsbury, Beech Creek Township, Greene County, Indiana. In the 1880 U.S. Census William and his brother Francis were shown working as potters in William's pottery shop in Scotland, Indiana. In the 1900 U.S. Census, William was listed as a salesman & potter in Dugger, Cass Township, Sullivan County, Indiana. In the 1910 U.S. Census, William is retired but still living in Dugger, Cass Township, Sullivan County, Indiana. William B. Taylor was one of the early founders and was very active as an Elder of the Church of Christ in Dugger, Cass Township, Sullivan County, Indiana until his death about 1920. He often served as minister and performed several of the funeral services in that community.
William was a Civil War soldier on the Union side. On August 22, 1862 he joined Company I of the 82nd Regiment, Indiana Infantry as a Corporal and was mustered in to sevice in Indianapolis on August 27, 1862. He held the rank of Sergeant when mustered out on June 9, 1865.
Burial Place: There is speculation by some researchers that William may not be buried at Dugger Cemetery although the cemetery marker for him and his wife, Elizabeth Jane is there and has been confirmed by this researcher. The speculation arises because his death date is not engraved on the marker. It is known that he died about 1920 and probably in Dugger, Sullivan County, Indiana.
