Notes
a. Note:   According to legend, George and his two brothers Nicholas and Conrad arrived in the U.S. in 1834 sailing on the Belfy Derry ship from Germany. In the 1840 Census for Pleasant Township, Marion County, Ohio, George is found living in the household of his father Christopher with his mother, Elizabeth and his two brothers, Nicholas and Conrad. In the 1850 Census, George and Josephine (Fessenberger) and sons Henry and John are found living in Darwin Township, Clark County, Illinois. In the 1860 Census, George and his family are living in Panola, Woodford County, Illinois. After George Chickadaunce moved his family from Clark County, Illinois to Woodford County, Illinois, he changed his name back to Schickedanz, the original German spelling. This name change is recorded in the county courthouse records. In the 1880 Census, George and family are living in Eppards Point, Livingston County, Illinois.
