Notes
a. Note:   In 1907, George Ferguson and partner Arnold Crush built a General Store in the town of Doans and across the road from Granville Martindale's store. In 1908 George applied for a Post Office and got it. This put Granville Martindale out of business. Arnold Crush moved to Montana to homestead land and sold his half of the business to George. George's General Store was very popular with the children for candy. Later, George Ferguson's store burned so George bought Jim Inman's store. Georges son, James Frank Ferguson ran that store for several years and moved the building to the new state highway in the 1940's. According to family documents, it was suspected that George Ferguson and his brother Benjamin Franklin Ferguson were Klansmen.
