Notes
a. Note:   e almshouse in Paris, Sheet 10 B. I don't know if this is the same George or not.
According to notes from his granddaughter, this is the same George Bishop.
The "tragedy" of George's family was indeed several. George and Martha lost two sons to whooping cough and measles. Martha died in 1906 of tuberculosis. My father never forgot her horrible illness. Their house burned down. George was alcoholic. George placed Bessie age 14, Roscoe age 8, and Ralph age 4 in orphanage. Bessie was placed with a family as "companion", but returned soon saying the father in family made improper advances (I believed her). The orphanage record of her birthdate was blotted out to make her look older. Roscoe was put out to labor at a young age, and had horrible tales to tell. Ralph had it easier as a kind family took him in. My father never forgave his father George. I still wonder where their extended family was, but I think everyone was scrambling for a living, so it doesn't do any good to speculate.
The children entered the orphanage December 3, 1909.
Note:   Some tragedy happened to this family between 1900 and 1910. In 1910 the children are in a children's home in Paris, and the parents cannot be found. In 1830 a George Bishop, 66, is found living in th
