Notes
a. Note:   h born in Kentucky and living in Union Twn., Shelby Co., in 1850 on land valued 1700. I have no proof of direct connection yet, but living with that family is Elisabeth Guess, age 90, from VA. In 1860 Nancy A. Yager 52 is still alive with Elizabeth Gess 96- living in the same place on land valued 4800. John, her husband, has died. In the 1870 census, Nancy A. Dadd 63 is living on that land valued now at $4500. with sons William H. Yager 21 and Joseph A.R. 16. Did she get married and widowed again in the interim 10 years, or did she revert to her maiden name? In the 1840 census, John Yager appears in Union twn. census with a wife younger than himself. I think Nancy A. must have been a second wife.
In 1840 in Union at Shelby County is John W. Yager, bet. 20 and 30, with one son under 5, one daughter between 5 and 10, and 1 female bet. 15 and 20. Also I found a marriage record for John W. Yager to Nancy Brown on May 21, 1840 in Shelby. I do believe this is a second wife, and maybe his first wife was a daughter of Elizabeth Guess (the elder)? In the 1830 census there is a John W. Yager in Boone Co. KY that is between 50 and 60, and could be the father of this John W. Yager.
Since both Granville H. Bishop and John Bishop got married in Shelby Co. in 1846, we must assume that the Bishops were traveling back and forth from Clark Co. to Shelby Co. in Indiana during this decade.
Note:   Her last name is spelled Yager on her marriage certificate. It is spelled Yeager on George F. Bishop's (her son's) marriage certificate. Her likely family is father John Yeager and mother Nancy A. bot
