 His sons made purchases too in the same area. There are three George Harper purchases, one James M. Harper, and three Mark Harper purchases.
  When George died, his estate was probated in 1866 in Fannin County, Texas, and his possessions consisted of 1 horse, 9 cattle, 20 hogs and 58 and 1/4 acres. (Box 10, case #332, George and Susan Harper)
  Harper Cemetery

  The Harper Cemetery is located where the Bartley School was located
 and the land had been settled early by the Harper Family.
 Only 4 graves are recorded there,
 2 are only the base with no writing left and the other two are;
 Emmet Burrows b&d 1866 son of J.S.E.Burrows
 G.W. Harper ( George Washington Harper) b. 1828 (in Wilson Co.Tenn) and died in 1866 from illness from his service in the war.
 He was married to Elizabeth Crook in 1847. She remarried to a Mr.Clark.

  "George Washington Harper Sr is also buried there. He was b. 1797 in Va. and He was married to Susannah Mansell and they moved to Texas before the 1860 census from Illinois and Tennessee."
  Some of G.W.Harper's are buried in the nearby Providence (Bartley-Woods Cemetery)

Note:   It seems that the Harper family moved to Illinois before 1850 and began to purchase public land. There are two George W. Harper purchases of 40 acres each for 1.25 an acre that took place on March 25
