  Death of John M. Clarke. At the residence of his son J. Wesley Clark, 615 Lincoln Avenue, yesterday at 2 o'clock. John M. Clark died of pneumonia, brought on by the grip. The deceased was 87 years old, having been born March 18, 1811. The early part of his life was spent on a farm in Vermont. In 1836, he started for Michigan, but on the way the friend he started with having died he settled in Kingston, Ont. where he remained until three years ago, when he removed to this city and took up residence with his son. Mrs Hogan survives him. Of nine surviving children, five reside in Bay County - they are Dr. James Clark, J. Wesley Clarke, lawyer, Miss Jane Clara Clark and Henry Clark, a farmer in Merritt township. The other children are in Kingston, Ont. & Chicago.
 The funeral will take place from the home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. W.H. Clark DD officiating. [Bay City Times, January 21, 1892 - transcribed]
