Notes
a. Note:   9, Newboro, from the earliest written records in 1856 up until his death in January 1895. Brother Wyatt was an active member of the lodge, often moving or seconding motions, "giving the lecture" [reciting the principles of the order], and serving as a member of the lodge committee. In a rare departure from the usual record of motions, the minutes of the meeting of January 30th 1895 recorded "the Desest William Wiants remains has been plasd in the voalt by the Brothern of this Lodge." [Loyal Orange Lodges Collection, Queens University Archives].
The conventional oral family history explains that the use of WYATT and WAGEANT in various family records is because the family's mother remarried shortly after James Robert WYATT was born in 1867. For this to be the case William WYATT/WYANT (born circa 1824 in Ontario) and William J. WEAGANT/ WYANT/WYATT (born circa 1824 in Ontario) would have to be different individuals. If they are different individuals then the first William had two wives (Jane WHITMARSH and Ann TAYLOR) and Ann TAYLOR had two husbands named William.
It seems more likely that William WYATT/WYANT and William J. WEAGANT/WYATT/WYANT are the same person. [DAW 2001]
Note:   William Wyatt appears in the written records of Loyal Orange Lodge No. 4
