Title: Obituary - Michael Kahtz (1839)
Text: GRANDPA KAHTZ DEAD Michael Kahtz died of old age at 11:30 o'clock, Wednesday night, Dec. 26, 1928, at his home, in Teutopolis, after being bedfast for over eighteen months due to dislocation of the left hip, caused from falling. Mr. Kahtz was born Jan. 6, 1839, at Eichsfiel, Mellentin, Province of Westprussia, circuit-capital Deutsch-Kron, Regierungerbezirk Marienwerder, Germany. Deceased came to America in June 1863. He worked two months in New York and then came to Alton, Ill., Edwardsville, Ill., and finally in 1870 to Teutopolis. He was on the ocean seven weeks. Mr. Kahtz was married three times. His first wife, Anna Lueck, leaving him a daughter, now Mrs. Bertha Ramming of St. Louis. Two are deceased: (Mary) Mrs. Henry Koester of Uniontown, Wash., who died Jan. 2, 1909 and Michael, who died when a young man. His second wife was Mrs. Mary Tapphorn, two children born to them died in infancy. After her death, he married Mrs. Josephine Anheuser, nee Hutmacher. Of the children born to them and living are: Frank, Pete, (Mary) Mrs. Matt Nosbisch, Louis, and William of the United States Navy, U. S. S. New York, which left Los Angeles, Dec 26, 1928, on a cruise till August 1929. Anna and Leo died in infancy, and Henry at the age of nine. Mr. Kahtz's stepson, John Anheuser was killed in Oklahoma City, Sept. 26, 1898. Funeral services will be held at St. Francis' church, Teutopolis, Saturday morning at nine o'clock. Mr. Kahtz was a loyal member of St. Peter's Men's Sodality. He is survived by six children, seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and other relatives. May his soul rest in peace! Title: Obituary - Josephine Hutmacher (1854)
Text: Death of Mrs. Mike Katz In the death of Mrs. Mike Katz, Wednesday, July 26, the community lost a good Christian women, and the family a devoted mother. Mrs. Katz was held in high esteem by all who knew her for her many fine qualities. She had the faculty of making friends of all with whom she came in contact and her generous nature held all such friendships. Josephine Hutmacher was born in Germany, near Toehlen, on May 15, 1854. She came to this country when she was seven years of age came direct to this county. After the death of her parents she went to DuQuoin and was married there to John Anheuser. To the union one son was born and he died some 10 years ago. Her husband died in 1878 and in 1880 she was united in marriage to Michael Katz. They were blessed with eight children, five of whom are living, namely: Frank, Pete, Louis and William at home and Mrs. Mart Nosbisch. The husband also survives. Mrs. Katz became ill about 15 months ago and since last November she has been bedfast almost all the time. Her ailment was dropsy. The interment took place Friday morning from the Catholic church and the remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing friends.

Text: Mrs. Mary Nosbisch, Age 80, Dies At Hospital Sunday Mrs. Martin (Mary) Nosbisch age 80 died at 8 a. m. Sunday March 24 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham where she had been a patient for six weeks. She was born May 16, and was a daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Hutmacher Kahtz. She was married to Martin Nosbisch in October 15, 1907. The deceased was a member of St. Ann's Sodality and the St. Francis Home Extension Unit. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. John (Josephine) Bloemer of Green Creek, Mrs. Lawrence (Alma) Tegeler and Mrs. Ray (Florence) Buening, both of Teutopolis, Peter of Effingham, and William of California; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. her husband in 1958 and three Preceding her in death were sons. Chris who died in June of 1963, Michael in 1939, and Louis died at the age of 4 years. The body lay in state at the Habing funeral home in Teutopolis where the rosary was recited Monday and Tuesday evening. The Requiem Mass was at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday at St. Francis Church, Teutopolis with burial in the parish cemetery. Palbearers were neighbors Anthony Rieman, Robert Pals, Harold Thoele, Norbert Zerrusen, Arthur Deters and Albert Deters.
