Note: Dolores was born on Sunday September 21, 1930 at the home of Wladyslaw and Kunegunda nee Knapp Herdzina by mid-wife. Being born on Sunday the Mid-wife submitted the birth-certificate information on Monday thus the official record date is noted to be Monday September 22, 1930. Kansas City Star Tuesday August 8, 2006 Pg. B-6, Col. 6 Dolores "Dee" Preston Dolores "Dee" Preston, 75, passed away on August 7, 2006, after a courageous, long-fought battle with multiple sclerosis. Raised in Chicago, she attended Washburne Trade School where she studied millinery arts. She met the love of her life, AlRay, while working at Aetna in Chicago. They were married March 3, 1952, and had three children. They moved to the Kansas City area in 1969, where she became an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and The Church of the Good Shepherd. The youngest of nine, she was preceded in death by AlRay; her parents, Kunegunda and Walter Herdzina; sisters Wanda and Helen; and brothers Edward, Steve and Adolph Herdzina. She is survived by her children, Deborah Pearce, Kurt and Steve Preston; sisters Lola and Violet; brother John; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She loved her family and friends and always wanted to treat others as she wanted to be treated. Services will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Bishop Spencer Place with inurement at The Church of the Good Shepherd following the service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Memorial Garden at Bishop Spencer Place, 4301 Madison St., KCMO 64111.
