Notes
a. Note:   XI263
Note:   Grave pictured - Old Catholic Section M1 Row 34, Graves #479-482.
The following was compiled and documented by Patricia Jenkins-Green, the Great Great Grand-daughter of Charles Jenkins and the Great Grand-daughter of Henry Augustine Jenkins dated 3rd February, 2007.
The position of the Jenkins Family Memorial (pictured) is in the Catholic Old Mortuary Section M1, Graves 481 and 482 (there is a reference also to Graves No. 479/482 but I only inspected Graves Nos. 481 & 482 I will have to go back and investigate further). The following were originally buried in the old Devonshire Street, Cemetery and their remains were re-interred at Rookwood Cemetery after the former was closed to make way for Central Railway Station:- Frederick Jenkins son of Charles & Isabella died 11/10/1839 aged 6 weeks. Charles Jenkins husband of Isabella died 16/3/1857 aged 47 years. Alice Mary Jenkins daughter of Charles & Isabella died 18/4/1854 aged 2 yrs.7mths. Henry Augustine Jenkins son of Charles & Isabella died 27/7/1867 aged 30 years. Breen (or Bryant) (I have no knowledge of this person). The above persons were re-interred at Rookwood on the 3/4/1901 in Grave 481 there was one coffin for Charles and one combined coffin for Frederick, Alice Mary, Henry Augustine & Breen or Bryant.
The following were buried in Grave No. 482:- «b»Caroline Luscombe 2nd daughter of Charles & Isabella d. 15/11/1905 «i»[Editor's note: the online NSW BDM Historical Index of death registrations lists that Caroline died on the 19th, not the 15th; which is the typo?]«/i».«/b» Albert Theodore Jenkins son of Charles & Isabella died 2/4/1911 aged 62 years. Alfred Adolphus Jenkins son of Charles & Isabella died 13/1/1918 aged 72 years.
The metal plaque on the side of the photograph where I am standing was the original one for Charles Jenkins and reads:- SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF CHARLES JENKINS WHO DIED MARCH 16th 1857 aged 47 YEARS "His languishing head is at rest His thinking and aching are over His quiet immovable breast Is heaved by affliction no more. His breast is no longer the seat Of trouble and torturing pain It ceases to flutter and beat." Also on the monument is: 'SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF HENRY AUGIUSTINE, Second son of Charles Jenkins, Esq., died July 27th 1867 aged 30' The remaining also have inscriptions showing their names and date of death.
Editor's note: The above information is just a very small part of the records and notes graciously provided by Mrs Pat Green (nee Jenkins), Great Great Grand-daughter of Charles and Isabella Jenkins. Pat's original work has been built on and expanded in collaboration with Mrs Helen Crawley (nee Jenkins), another Great Great Grand-daughter. In more recent times the work is being continued by Helen's Daughter-in-Law, Maureen Crawley (nee Maher).
