Note: Rosemary Husted Prentice 88; co-founder of Jeff-Clark Preservation Society Rosemary Husted Prentice, 88, of Clarksville, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Providence Retirement Home. She was a native of Martinsville, Ill. and a member of the Sonshine Singers Club. She graduated in 1939 from Purdue University, where she obtained a Bachelor's of Science Degree. She was on the Board of Directors for the Howard Steamboat Museum and the Regional Youth Service, but most importantly, she along with Harvey Russ, was co-founder of the Jeff-Clark Preservation Society. On Dec. 5, 2003, she was awarded for all of her hardwork with the Jeff-Clark Preservation Society and in her honor became the "Rosemary Husted Prentice Award for Historic Preservation," which was established by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. This award is given annually to recognize preservation achievement in southern Indiana. Survivors include 13 nieces and nephews; two special great nieces and her caregiver, Sandi Hartz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Husted and Grace Stillwell Husted; and a brother, Lee Husted. Visitation at Scott Funeral Home's Main Street Chapel will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. Entombment will be held at a later date in Martinsville, Ill. at Ridgelawn Mausoleum. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Jeff-Clark Preservation Society.
