c. Note:   Topeka State Journal Friday 15 March, 1974, pg. 25: Services will be Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for Mrs. Bessie A. Shideler, 79, 1401 Wanamaker Road, who died Thursday in a Topeka hospital after an extended illness. She was born November 12, 1894 in Topeka and lived most of her life here.
 She was a onetime recipient of the Master Homemaker Award presented by Kansas State University and was a graduate of Topeka High School. Mrs. Shideler was a member of Seabrook United Church of Christ, the church's afternoon Circle Club and taught adult Sunday school classes at the church.
 She had held offices in the Wanamaker Club, Fourth Friday Sewing Circle, the former Westside Home Demonstration Unit and Daughters of Union Veterans, Tent 30. She was also a member of Beulah Chapter No 34, Order of Eastern Star.
 She was married to Jay Shideler on April 9, 1920 in Topeka. He survives at the home Other survivors include 2 sons, Donald Shideler and Philip Shideler, both of Topeka; a daughter, Mrs. Margery Ripple, Hiawatha, and 8 grandchildren.
 Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
