Note: There is a big question as to which Reynolds Sarah married and what her maiden name was. What we do know is that in 1850 she shows up with her son, John Calvin Reynolds, in Marion County, Illinois at the age of 60 making her born around 1790. She indicates that she was born in Tennessee.
This gives us the following timeline:
1790 - Sarah born in Tennessee (1807 per 1860 census which would make her 18 when Nancy is born).
1825 - Sarah in Alabama where she gives birth to Nancy S. Reynolds.
1826 - Sarah in Alabama where she gives birth to William H. Reynolds.
1828 - John Calvin Reynolds is born in Giles County, Tennessee according to his Civil War Pension papers.
1832 - Cynthia Ann Reynolds is born in Tennessee (1860 census says Alabama).
1840 - Nancy S. Reynolds marries (29 Feb 1840 ) Thomas C. Floyd in Hardeman County, Tennessee at age 15.
1850 - Sarah found living in Marion County, Illinois with her son, John Calvin Reynolds.
Her children: William H. Reynolds, Nancy S. Floyd, & Cynthia Ann Reynolds are also living in Marion County.
1856 - Cynthia Reynolds marries William Shelton Luttrell in Miller County, Missouri.
1860 - Sarah F. Reynolds living in Pulaski County, Missouri with her son, John Calvin Reynolds.
1870 - John Calvin Reynolds wife (Martha Mashburn) is found living in Marrs Hill, Washington County, Arkansas without her husband or mother-in-law. Both suspected deceased.
Since daughter, Nancy S. Reynolds is in Hardeman County, Tennessee in 1840 when she is only 15, you would assume that her parents are there with her. There are only three (3) Reynolds families living there: Amos C. Reynolds, Jeremiah Reynolds, & William Reynolds. None of these three have a wife that is 40-50 although William is this age.
Jeremiah Reynolds and Amos C. Reynolds only have one child in 1840 whereas Sarah has three living with her. That eliminates them.
