Note: I do not know who the father is of Mary E. Louisa Floyd or her sister, Ida Floyd. But the 1880 census has Caroline Floyd living with her sister Elizabeth (Floyd) Luttrell and has mistaken Elizabeth's children from her first marriage for Caroline's children. Caroline indicates her two daughter's father was born in Illinois.

Mary Floyd was married 4 times and family stories indicate she was very difficult to live with. She was very demanding. One story relates to her marriage to William Louis Luttrell. She always kept a gun in the folds of her skirts and one time she threathened to shoot him. Well, he believed her and that is why they went their separate ways. But this came back to bite her when her third husband died. His son, Andrew Abbett, by a previous marriage, went to court to show that she was never divorced from William Louis Luttrell and therefore did not deserve the estate of William Abbett.
She later married another relative, John Wesley Thornton, who babied her and that is how he managed to get along with her. She first married William Nathaniel Wyrick, Sr. and had one son, William Jacob "Weed" Wyrick" by him but I was told that she beat the boy a lot. Weed Wyrick died 11 May 1936 at age 46 of Pneumonia and never married.
