Notes
a. Note:   Judge Emly Golden led a Union military force, prowling Miller Co., Mo. He'd ordered his forces rendezvoused, June 10, 1861, at Camp Union. This day the Osage Valley Regiment and Hickory Battalion Companies were formed. June 14, 1861, Colonel Emly Golden, with Captains Charles D. Martin and John Canady, moved out towards Ulman's Ridge from Camp Union. Immediately Golden was approaced by William Abbott and brother, Daniel, seeking permission to go after their father, Lieutenant John Abbott, serving in Captain McCubbin's State Guard Company in the Little Richwoods. It was approved and 20 men accompanied them to find John, in the Little Richwoods, encamped in Dick Reed's barn. A gunfight ensued, eventually leading to John Abbott, and others, getting away.
