Viola M. Ash, 90, Brumley, died April 20, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Care Center, St. Elizabeth. She was born Oct. 11, 1911, in Brumley, a daughter of D.D. and Mary Adaline Davenport Thornton. She was married in 1929, in Pacific, to Elmer Thomas Ash, who died Feb. 5, 1995. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: seven sons, Elmer Ash Jr. and Richard Ash, both of Michigan, Lonnie Ash, Edward Ash and Winfred Ash, both of Arkansas, Merel Ash, Brumley, and Wendell Ash, Iberia; two daughters, Mary Cripe and Debra Newman, both of Michigan; one brother, Roland Thornton, Poplar Bluff; 33 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Frank Senters and the Rev. Curtis Ash will officiate. Burial will be in Robinett Cemetery, near Brumley. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
