  Mary M. Gumm, age 90 years, of Brumley, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 23, 1977 in Herington, Kansas where she was living with her daughter, Mrs. Opal Longhofer. Mrs. Gumm was born June 12, 1887 in Miller County near Brumley, Mo., the daughter of Shelton and Kathryn "Kate" (Williams) Thornton. She was united in marriage on December 31, 1903 at Tuscumbia, Mo. to John Thomas Gumm, who preceded her in death on March 31, 1970.
  Mrs. Gumm lived for a time in Bonner Springs, Kansas then moving to Miller County where she lived most all of her life. Since her husband's passing she spent most of those years in her childrens' homes. Mrs. Gumm was a member of Mt. Union Church of Christ and also attended Gott Church near Brumley, Mo.
  Surviving are 3 daughters, 6 sons, one half-brother, 3 half-sisters, 32 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 25 at the Mt. Union Church of Christ with Bro. Farris Wall officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Union Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia, Mo. Pallbearers were Eddie Gumm, Wayne Gumm, Gary Gumm, Willis Sears, Dorles Luttrell, Kenny Sears and Timmy Fray.
