Note: James Floyd has consistently been listed as single on all census records until 1914 when he shows up as married. A death certificate for Susan Floid is believed to have been his wife. I have been unable to locate any record of James' death but have listed in family notes that he was murdered. I also have that he was crippled from being run over by a wagon (which may account for his being single and living with relatives for so long). A story I heard from Nancy Murrell indicates that James Floyd, along with some of the McDowells, and a Shelton, pulled a bank robbery at Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri in 1922. There was a shootout. But no information has been found on this. Still, it would be an interesting story to add.
