Notes
a. Note:   I think it is safe to say that Elizabeth Ash was quite a colorful lady. She never married but had seven (7) children, that we know of, each by different fathers. Some of the father's names were carried down through family stories and others were just forgotten or never known to begin with. I thought so many possible children showed up that it couldn't be true - the latest being Fred Dodson who was born in 1881 and his sister born in January 1885. So, I investigated the claim of Fred Dodson being a son and found out it could very well be true. Fred's father was Reuben "Frank" Dodson who married Elizabeth's younger sister, Chloe Ash sometime between 1870-1880. Even though the Dodson's lived in Camden County, I'm sure they made a few trips back to neighboring Miller County to visit the relatives. Another child, Armina Ash, was supposedly fathered by Hiram Robinette (family stories). Well, sure enough, he lived very close by as well and was definitely in the neighborhood where he and Elizabeth could meet, plus his mother was Elizabeth's cousin. William Lewis Ash, born 1865 is said to have been fathered by Bruce Quinn, of Indian descent, of whom I found living in the same county during the same time. The last known child was Green Berry Ash born in 1874. Rumors were that his father was Frank Rodden although I've also heard the name Flynn. It's not Bruce Quinn as he went to Arkansas by this time.
