Note: I can find nothing to confirm Sarah Thornton being another daughter of Felix and Mary. There are 3 females age 10-16 on the 1820 census and a boy age 10-16 on the 1810 census that I'm not sure who they are. I'm guessing that the male in 1810 is married by 1820 and on his own. The girl listed in 1820 is most likely married by 1830 and no longer shown (Sarah perhaps?). I do have a theory though. John Thornton Jr. (brother of Felix), had a son and daughter who fit this age range and who seem to have migrated with Felix when he traveled to Smith County, Tennessee (where a John and Hannah have property in 1820). These two have to be the children of John Thornton Jr. as all the other siblings of Felix are accounted for and their children. The only one left is John, Jr. (son of John and Agnes). John and Hannah also fit the age range for John Thornton Jrs. children. I'm wondering if Felix Thornton left North Carolina after his parents died. Following the rule of the time, the eldest son of John Thornton and Agnes Hill would inherit all the land. This would be John Thornton, Jr. 1820 Smith County, Tennessee Census, Page: 92; NARA Roll: M33_125; Image: 106, Enumeration Date: August 7, 1820. Hannah Thornton Males: 1 under age 10 (born 1810-1820); 1 age 16-18 (born 1802-1804); 3 age 45 & over (born before 1775). Females: 1 age 16-25 (born 1795-1804). Listed next to Felix Thornton and John Thornton. Hannah is too young to have a son born 1802-1804 so I suspect this may be her brother. I'm not sure who the 3 males age 45 and over are. 1810 Sampson County, North Carolina Census, Pages 160B-161A, Roll M252_42.
