a. Note:   Schl'fcter means keeper of the keys or locksmith. Iron County Register Newspaper, Thursday, February 27, 1890, Volume XXIII, Number 34, "Pilot Knob Items". Died, at this home in this place, on Friday morning, Henry Schleuter, Sr. The remains were laid to rest in the Pilot Knob cemetery Sunday evening. Henry and Wilhelmina Schlueter (Schl'fcter) immigrated to the United States from Lamspringe, Germany and arrived on October 23, 1863. Lamspringe is approximately 28.4 miles south of Hannover. They arrived in New York on the ship "America" from Bremen, Germany with their four children: Name, Age, Occupation, Born (Approx.) Heinrich Schl'fcter, 43, Farmer, 1820 Wilhelmine Schl'fcter, 44, ,1819 Heinrich Schl'fcter, 9 Yrs. 6 Mos., ,1854 Karl Schl'fcter, 6 Yrs. 6 Mos., ,1857 Louise Schl'fcter, 4 Yrs. 6 Mos., ,1859 Maria Schl'fcter, 0 Yrs. 11 Mos., ,September 1862 Maria does not show up on any Iron County census records and may have died en route to Pilot Knob, Missouri. The Karl listed is Charles. SCHLEIDER, HENRY 1870 Census Record: Iron County, Missouri, Pilot Knob Township, 34 Range, 4 East, July 19, 1870, Sheet No. 8, Page 585-586, Lines 32-36. Henry Schlieder, age 50, male, works for Iron Corp., born Hannover. Armena Schlieder, age 51, female, born Hannover. Henry Schlieder, age 17, male, born Hannover. Charles Schlieder, age 12, male, born Hannover. Louise Schlieder, age 11, female, born Hannover. 1876 Agricultural Census: Iron County, Missouri, Arcadia Township, St. Louis Public Library, "1876 Census of the County of Iron", by Millie & Edward Preissle, Page 32. In 1880 (1880 Iron County, Missouri, Pilot Knob Township, ED 52.) Henry's son, Henry is found living in Pilot Knob but there is no sign of his father. Wilhelmina died in Mar 1880 in Pilot Knob so they were living there until then. The only Henry Schlueter I find elsewhere that is close to his age is Henry Schlatter, age 63, living in Union, Missouri (1880 Union, Franklin County, Missouri; Roll: T9_686; Family History Film: 1254686; Page: 235.4000; Enumeration District: 73; Image: 0473). Could this be him? Gerhard Wilmann, age 60, husband, farmer, born Prussia. Mary Wilmann, age 50, wife, born Hanover. Henry Schlatter, age 63, brother, farmer, born Hanover.
