Notes
a. Note:   Karl was born to Christian Amelung and Johanna Bodenstein on December 28, 1858 in Pilot Knob, Missouri and died on December 2, 1861 just short of his 3rd birthday. There is not much information on Charles except for what I found on his tombstone in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. He is buried next to his older sister Anna and shares a tombstone with both their names (Anna and Karl) listed. Below their names it indicates that they are the children of Christian and Johanna Amelung. Charles does show up on the 1860 Census Records when he was one year old with his parents and brother William.
Baptism Record: None listed in Pilot Knob Lutheran Church (Church not formed until 1861.) More than likely, Karl was baptized by a traveling minister since the Lutheran Church was not built in Pilot Knob until 1861. The Church has no record of his death.
