Notes
a. Note:   OLD TIME STORIES:
 Rounder
When Herb Amelung lived in Pacific at the Pennsylvania Glass and Sand Apartments, he had a dog and her pups. But with rats running rampart, they put out rat poison and believe that the dogs catching the rats also got poisoned and died. All except one, Rounder!
So Herb gave Rounder to his brother Herman in Pilot Knob. Herman, Babe and Oscar along with their friends in Pilot Knob would go hunting in the Pilot Knob hills for Possums and what ever else they could catch. Babe claimed that the dog was crazy and that they all had to carry clubs to keep the dog back. When Rounder would tree a possum or coon, he'd chew all the brush down around the tree and would even try to climb the tree to get to it. But if he ever caught the game, it wasn't worth keeping, he'd tear it up.
When they caught something, they'd put it in burlap sacks that they'd hang over their shoulder as they walked. Well, Rounder thought them no different from a tree and would try to jump up and grab the sacks. Here is where the club came in handy. But one night, Rounder out did himself. As he jumped for Oscar's burlap sack, he caught Oscar smack in the back of the head. Oscar beat the tar out of Rounder, but it didn't stop him from trying. One wonder's how Rounder managed not to get shot through all of this.
Then there was the night that Rounder was chasing a skunk and it went under a rock. Oscar was wearing his brand new black cowboy hat that he had saved all of his money for. So when he bent down to look under the rock, he naturally took his hat off first. Well, Rounder's eyesight was somewhat impaired from being sprayed by the skunk, so when he saw the black thing in Oscar's hand, he tore into it and dragged it all over that hill. Of course Oscar's brothers and friends fell out laughing.
