Iron County Register Newspaper, Ironton, MO, April 10, 1884 The two tunnels on the east side of Pilot Knob are progressing finely. They are driven in about one hundred feet. Charley Schleuter has a gang of men taking up dirt and sinking a prospect hole in the bottom, to find how far down the ore reaches.
Iron County Register Newspaper, Ironton, Missouri, LV II, #45, Thursday, April 3, 1924, Column 3, "Local Brevities" Chas. Schlueter of Crystal City was a visitor last week.
Iron County Register Newspaper, Thursday, March 19, 1936, Volume LXIX, No. 45, Page 6, Charles Schleuter Obituary and Card of Thanks. Obituary gives names of his 10 children: Mrs. C.H. Colin, Festus; Mrs. David Gutzman, East Moline, Illinois; Mr. Herman Amelung, Pilot Knob; Henry and Fred Schlueter, Black Hills, South Dakota; Alfred Schleuter, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Charles Schlueter, Jr., Flint, Michigan. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Louisa Behm, Saginaw, Michigan.
Iron County Register Newspaper, Ironton, Missouri, July 3, 1884, Page 5 The centre of attraction on the hill last week was at that large bay window in the north end of the car shop, in the shape of a bug (not a lightening bug) of very large dimensions, with ruinous long legs and horns, and four eyes. He was first espied just before work-time, parading up and down the track from the drumhouse towards the mouth of Tunnel No. 2. Colonel Kling drew up his forces in line of battle to make a feint on his front, while the Colonel took a large coil of electric copper wire, making a lasso, and proudly marched to the rear with a small force and made the enemy a prisoner. The bug he is now in the custody of Henry Schleuter at the Knob.
