Notes
a. Note:   Cause of Death: Consumption (Suffered from last few years of life.) Consumption is defined in dictionary as wasting of tissue or tuburculosis.
Received copy of his obituary from Grace (Amelung) Klunk.
OBITUARY Our highly esteemed friend John T. Watters, was born at Pilot Knob, July 26, 1888 and was transferred to his heavenly inheritance from Festus, Mo., September 13, 1918, aged 30 years, 1 month and 18 days. For the last few years he had been afflicted with consumption, coming to him so young and in the midst of life's greatest hopes, was a great trial to his faith and patience. But this trial only helped to subdue his will and produce in him the beautiful elements of patience and submission. He was always naturally of a cheerful disposition, and even amid his troubles and the disappointment of life, he was helpful and full of cheer. He naturally longed and hoped finally to get well, but at last there came to him the consciousness of the end, when loved ones themselves could not discern the fact. Mr. Watters lived in Festus the past ten years and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church two years ago, to which he was a very devout member.
Funeral was held from the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Watters, Sunday afternoon thence to the Lutheran Church where the services were held by Rev. Jos. Frenz, after which the remains were laid to rest in Gamel Cemetery. He leaves to mourn his demise, father, mother, wife and two sisters.
CARD OF THANKS We wish to extend our thanks to our neighbors and friends for their services rendered during the illness and death of our dear son and brother; also to Rev. Frenz, Fink and Duester; and we also feel very greatly for the beautiful floral offerings.
Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Watters
