Note: Gerald L. Allen, 88, of McCune, died at 7:25 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Center. He was born February 15, 1928 at Rural Mineral, KS, a son of Harry and Golda Mae (Morris) Allen. He grew up at Mineral and attended country schools. He graduated from the West Mineral High School with the Class of 1946, and then began employment with the Katy Rail Road. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he moved to Wichita where he worked at Beach Aircraft. He moved to Parsons in 1956 and worked at the former Markley Implement Company as a mechanic and farmed on the side. He retired in 1993, but continued farming. On August 14, 1954 he and Katherine (Kathy) Susan Perkins were united in marriage at Placerville, CA. She survives of the home. He was Christian. He was an active member of the McCune Lions Club for over twenty-five years, and had served as Club President. In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons Gene Allen, of McCune, KS, Chris Allen, Of McCune, KS; four daughters Susan Rodin, of Deforest, WI, Noreen Anderson, of Grayslake, IL, Roxanne Sykes, of Birch Tree, MO, Elaine Witt, of Rose Hill, KS; numerous grandchildren; three sisters Mauna Wilson, of Pittsburg, KS, Winona Goedeke, of Girard, KS, Ramona Honn, of Wichita, KS.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lloyd Allen and one grandson Ross Sykes. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Harold Groth officiating. Burial will be in the Ft. Scott National Cemetery with military honors given by Post No. 64, American Legion, Pittsburg, KS. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time Wednesday.
