Notes
a. Note:   Samuel Ellis was born 20 Jun 1768 in West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island.
 He was the son of John and Martha (Sweet) Ellis.
  Even though we now know for sure who the parents of Samuel Ellis were;
 Elton Phillip Kelley in his book, "Jeremiah Kelley of Weston, Maine and
 Allied Families" believed Samuel was the son of Thomas Ellis and Ruth
 Thomas of Woodstock, VT. This Thomas Ellis was descended from Lt. John
 Ellis and Elizabeth Freeman who were part of the early Plymouth, MA
 settlement. Even though we now know our Samuel was not the son of Thomas Ellis and Ruth Thomas it is still most likely he was a descendent of Lt. John Ellis of Plymouth, MA.
  Harry Ellis in his book, "The Family of Lt. John and Elizabeth (Freeman) Ellis of Sandwich, Massachusetts" states that Samuel Ellis, son
 of Thomas and Ruth, died intestate in Woodstock, Vermont in 1816. This
 Samuel should no longer be confused with our ancestor Samuel Ellis, born in Rhode Island.
