Henderson, 941 W. 23rd St., San Pedro, California [Charles H. Henderson was a son of Ensign A. Henderson and Mary E. Blair - ed.] Bolivar, Pa. 4-26-35 Dear Sir: Am answering a letter you wrote some time ago to the city clerk of Bolivar concerning the date of your mother's birth. Evidently your mother was born near the Covode Woolen Mill about 3 1/2 miles south of Bolivar in Fairfield Twp. It is impossible to find any one who is able to give any information about your mother's birth. We knew Dr. S.G. Miller but he is dead. Had we heard from you a year sooner we could have obtained quite a lot of information from a lady who lived near us. But she too is dead. There has been no record of births kept by the state here until about 30 yrs. ago. The reason I am answering your letter is that I am a descendent of Hendersons who have lived in this valley for 100 years. I am 56 years old. Have until two years ago been tax collector here. Held the job for 21 yrs. and I know everyone around here. My father's name was David Henderson and his father's name was Chas. J. Henderson. My mother's name was Mary Ellen Blair a daughter of Alex Blair all residents of this township. We have found a party who knew Harriet Henderson. I am going to see an old lady Mrs. Sam'l Henderson who we understand is related to Harriet Henderson through marriage. Possibly she might be able to give me some information. Am also going to see another old lady who is a sister-in-law of Dr. Miller. Anything of interest I learn will let you know. Will keep your address. Yours truly, Winfield Henderson Bolivar, PA.
