Born March 3, 1916, in Piney Creek, PA. Son of Dossie and Nancy Maye (Akers) Barnes. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elloise (Reffner) Barnes; brothers, Roy, Alfred, Clarence, Grant, Sherman, Merle and Elmer and sisters, Blanche Rose and Mildred Barnes. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, the former Hilda (Hoffman); loving daughter, Nancy, wife of Richard Caldwell, New Florence; son, Donald, married to the former Darlene Fisher, Charlotte, NC; step-sons, William Karshin, and Randy Karshin, married to the former Regina Moreau; 4 beloved grandsons, Michael, Mark, Brady and Brook; 3 adopted grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Bertha Snider, Armagh, and several nieces and nephews. Elden belonged to 2 bowling leagues and loved pitching horse shoes. Friends will be received from 3-8 PM Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. on Saturday at the Bethany United Methodist Church, Rev. Jeffrey Vanderhoff and Rev. Randy Baines officiating.
