  Obituary from Ellenville Journal, November 2, 1911:
 Cornelius B. Irwin died at Napanoch on Tuesday, at the age of 86 years, death attributed to apoplexy, though he had been confined to bed chiefly for several years. His wife died some years ago, but he had been most devotedly cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Jane Griffin. He leaves also another daughter and several sons. He was a veteran Union soldier, of the 156th regiment.
 He was born at Yagerville, son of Wm. Irwin. Funeral Friday, with interment at Yagerville.

 Cornelius B. Irwin, a veteran of the 156th Regiment, N.Y.V., died at his home in Napanoch, Monday night at the age of 86 years. Mr. IrwinÕs death resulted from burns sustained a few days before, having set his bed on fire while smoking. Mr. Irwin had been an invalid since the close of the war in 1865, and had been confined to the bed for the past twelve years, cared for by a devoted daughter.
