 Quick, Virginia (Irwin) Millett
CLIMAX, N.Y. On the twelfth day of the twelfth month, an exceptional full moon lighted the way home for Virginia May Quick, formerly of Climax, N.Y. Born in Saugerties on October 8, 1921, Virginia was the second child of Cornelius and Emily V. (Quick) Irwin. In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husbands, James Millett and Clayton Quick; brothers, Neil and Robert Irwin and sisters, Norma Polach and Kathryn Dufkin. Virginia had been a patient at Albany Medical Center prior to her death. She was an exceptional friend to all who knew her and she had an intuitive knowledge of how to bring comfort and to meet the needs of others. All members of her family were surrounded by her caring manner. Her community and family will mourn the passing of such a selfless person whose greatest joy was the happiness of giving. Her sense of humor and abundant charity endeared her to all. She greatly enjoyed traveling and hosting a good card game when she welcomed family and friends to her home. Her dogs and cats were her second family. Her service to her organizations was tireless and compassionate. She was a charter-life member of the Medway Grapeville Fire Auxiliary, former matron of Kaksakee Chapter of the Eastern Star, a life member of Medway Congregational Christian Church, past president of New Baltimore Republican Club, member of the New Baltimore Senior Citizens, the Earlton Fish and Game Club and the American Legion. In addition to her son, Roger Rice, Virginia leaves siblings, Charity Mills, Royal Irwin, Joyce Ritter, Lois Tomecek and Emily Irwin. Her extended family includes three grandsons, three step granddaughters, as well as many nieces nephews and cousins. She was particularly close to dear friends, Wynne Neiss and Everett Roberts. As to her wishes, her cremains will be interred at a future date in Medway Cemetery, Climax. There will be no calling hours. A future memorial service will be announced by her family. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sopris-Murray Funeral Home, Greenville, N.Y.
b. Note:   cremated; ashes interred in April after her memorial service
