MEDWAY - Irene W. Irwin, 88, died February 28, 2017 at Greene Meadows Nursing Home in Catskill. Irene was born September 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Hotaling) Wildey.
Irene loved people. She worked in her early years as a secretary for Mr. Scott Elles at the Greenville Central School. She also worked for the Greene County News and is well known for her newspaper column, ÒA Letter From IreneÓ. She was a longtime member of the Medway Grapeville Fire Co. Auxiliary and the Medway Congregational Christian Church. She taught Sunday school and loved playing the piano and singing in the choir. She was a nature lover and enjoyed watching the birds.
Irene is survived by her children, Lynn, Holly and Royal Irwin, all of Medway. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Royal R. Irwin.
A celebration of Irene and RoyalÕs lives will be at the convenience of the family at a date to be announced.
