Note: N4 died as a result of a construction accident

Walter E. Banta, an employee of the Village of Coxsackie, who suffered injuries last week when a sewer line excavation caved in on him, passed away at the Catskill Memorial Hospital on Sept. 5th.
Mr. Banta was a member of Coxsackie Hose No. 3 for 30 years.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 from the Gardner Funeral Home. The Rev. Burton Nussey officiated. Burial was in the Chestnut Lawn Cemetery at New Baltimore. The West Coxsackie Hose No. 3 held services at the Funeral Home on Monday night, with the Rev. Nussey acting as chaplain.
Mr. Banta is survived by his mother, Mrs. Frank Collier; his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Banta, and a son, Walter, of West Coxsackie; one sister, Mrs. Herbert Greene of Albany; and one brother, Sheffield, of Arlington, Va., to whom the sympathy of the village of Coxsackie is extended.
