Note: N44 Catskill Daily Mail, December 27, 2008 Herman J. Ritter Sr. Proprietor of HermÕs Body Shop?CATSKILL Ñ Herman J. Ritter Sr., 82, of Catskill, died Christmas Day at Columbia Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Dec. 15. Mr. Ritter was born in Coxsackie on Nov. 20, 1926, to the late John G. and Clara A. Pheifaus Ritter. He was a graduate of Coxsackie-Athens High School and married the former Joyce June on Sept. 26, 1948. He was proprietor of HermÕs Body Shop in Catskill from 1964 until his sons purchased it in 1991 and they continue the family business today on Route 9W.?He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Ritter, and their four children: Karen, Stephen, Richard and Herman ÒJohnÓ Ritter Jr.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nephews; a brother, Edward Ritter; and a sister Barbara Ritter. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Ritter.?Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. in the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill with interment following in the Town of Catskill Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Catskill Examiner-Recorder, October 7, 1948 Ritter - Irwin Miss Joyce June Irwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Irwin, was united in marriage on Sunday afternoon, September 25, to Herman J. Ritter, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ritter. The ceremony was performed at the Methodist Church by the Rev. John Glenwood. Mrs. Grace Tompkins, organist of the church, played several selections and also accompanied Mrs. Frank Thorne who sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly." Miss Phyllis Walker was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Lois Irwin, sister of the bride, and Miss Barbara Ritter, sister of the groom. Peter Ritter was best man for his brother. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors after which Mr. and Mrs. Ritter left on their wedding trip.
