a. Note:   N1615 Obituary from The Ossian Bee, Ossian, IA, March 3, 1892:
 DIED: Mrs. Mariah Krom, at her home on Washington Prairie, Feb. 17th, 1892, aged 81 years, 8 months and 13 days.
 Deceased, with her husband, the late Charles Krom, were among the old and much esteemed settlers, coming to Winneshiek county in 1856. She was a native of Ulster county, New York, and was born June 19th, 1810. In the east she was identified with the Presbyterian church, but never renewed her relation in Iowa. She professed both in Christ and finished her course in His name at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 13 days. Funeral services were held at the Centennial church on the 19th, a large gathering of friends and neighbors fully attesting the esteem in which she was held. The sermon was preached from I Thes. 4:14.
