Bert owned a praline factory in the French Quarter (1019 Decatur). H e also repackaged candy and sold it under the Evans name. My family m oved from Cyril, Okla. to New Orleans about 1952 and my Dad went to wo rk for Bert as a salesman. Evans Pralines and candy was sold all ove r the French Quarter, Hotels, Theaters, and even the Airport. Me and my brother Scott would go to work with my dad on Saturdays.
We would go from box to box eating all the candy we could hold. In 19 68, Bert sold the Candy
business and bought part interest in a Texaco Station.
