Note: Story of Eugene as told to me by Ruby Savoie Ruby Savoie m. Edley Daigle and lived on Bayou Blue all their lives. After Eugene's wife, Julia, died, he would visit the people along the bayou on Sunday. He knew Ruby made homemade cakes on Sunday so their home was usually one of his stops. He asked Ruby and Edley several times if he could move in with them and they could take care of him in his advancing years and in exchange they would inherit his property. Still raising their own family and knowing that Eugene had grown married children of his own to care for him, they decided to pass on his offer. Still he would visit and have cake and coffee and occasionally make his offer again. Ruby said he was a very good conversationalist and they enjoyed his visits. Eugene was Ruby's great uncle. His brother, Octave, was Ruby's grandfather. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Louisiana Deaths Name Eugenne Babin Event Type Death Event Date 12 Feb 1944 Event Place , Terrebonne, Louisiana Gender Male Age 79 Race White Birth Year (Estimated) 1865 Birthplace Houma, Louisiana Father's Name Voltare Babin Mother's Name Malvina Hebert Certificate Number 2782 Citing this Record "Louisiana Deaths, 1850-1875, 1894-1960," database with images, FamilySearch ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Houma Newspaper Deaths 1855 - 1981 by Terrebonne Genealogy Society (Index book of obits on microfilm) p. 27 Babin, Eugene, age 79, d. 02-12-1944, bur.
