Note: Harvey J. Porche Sr., 96, a native of Terrebonne and a resident of Houma, died Friday, June 17, 2011.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. till funeral time Tuesday at Samart Funeral Home of Houma. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in St. Louis Cemetery in Houma.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald T. Porche and Harvey Porche Jr.; one daughter, Beverly Porche Cadiere; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Lirette Porche; his parents, Julien Taylor Porche and Ophelia Songe Porche; one son-in-law, Anthony Cadiere; two daughters-in-law, Sylvia Adoue Porche and Dolores Cressonie Porche; five brothers, Albert, Morris, David, Herbert and Murphy Porche; and three sisters, Vadella Burke Darcy, Nettie Burke LaFarnce and Thelma Burke.
He was a vegetable farmer and lifelong resident of Terrebonne Parish.
Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of arrangements.
