Donald H. Gahr, age 88, of Oneida Heights, Appleton, Wisconsin died on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at his home. Donald was born on January 21, 1918, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the late Eric and Stella (Wilkinson) Gahr. He married Una Gallimore on December 27, 1944, in England; she preceded him in death on August 5, 1996. Donald proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army Air Corps. He was later a long-time employee of Medalist Machine Shop. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his daughters: Barbara (Peter) Sontag, Appleton; Sue (Bill) Schwartzbauer, Menasha;
his grandchildren: Michael Sontag, Sandra (Russ) Nikodem and Amy Schwartzbauer;
his great grandchildren: Steven Lee, Jared Nikodem and Nicole Nikodem;
his sister, Betty (Roy) Simons, Shawano;
his half-brothers: Warren McRae and Neil "Pat" McRae;
his half-sister, Judy (Bill) Norton;
and his brother-in-law, Robert Pekel.
He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Richard "Dick" (Eleanor) Gahr;
his half-brother, Duncan (Joyce) McRae,
and his half-sister, Janice (Robert) Pekel.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Terry and Dorothy for their loving care.
