Registrar Thomas Young. . George Felker, of Fergus, shot himself and died instantly while out hunting on Thanksgiving Day. Ref: Acton Free Press, 12 November, 1908, Page 3, Column 1. . 1908 November 9, Guelph. Today. Hunter George Felker of Fergus Killed By His Own Gun, was climbing a fence. A hunting accident occurred shortly after noon today, about a mile north of Fergus, as a result of which George Felker about 20 years of age and unmarried, was instantly killed by a shot from his own gun. He and John McClough, a young man of his own age, had been out together and were returning. Turning he saw Felker who was climbing over a fence at that time fell to the ground. On running back he found that the charge had entered just below the jaw. Felker gave no sign of life and must have been killed instantly. An inquest will be held.
