Note: From Robert Davis at [email protected]: MARY O. DAVIS b. 1848 to JAMES DAVIS b.1818 and AMANDA MALLOTT b.1821. They lived in Green twsp. Brown Co. I do know we are related to PITZERS. Could your MARY OLIVE DAVIS be my MARY O. She had sisters: Merida and Hanna. Brothers:Theadore, Alva, Harrison and Thomas my g.father... We believe MARY O. DAVIS to be your MARY OLIVE PITZER... JAMES and AMANDA lived in Green twsp.,Brown Co.,OH They lived 3 miles N. Mt. Orab on US68 in the small village of Greenbush. In 1886 the James Davis family donated Land and along with the Minnic family , the timber to erect the Union Plains E.U.B. Church. A new brick parsonage just north of the church was completed in 1967. The original structure still stands with three Sunday School rooms added in the back. James and Amanda along with their son Alva are bu. at Bloomrose cementry near Greenbush just behind a small church located there. The IGI records which are reached with LDS geneology lists a Theodore Pitzer b.March 28 1889 Brown Co. to JOHN A.PITZER and MARY OLIVE?. THEODORE being MARYS oldest brother leads us to believe this is the correct person. Theodore, Harrison and Thomas are all burried in Mt. Orab cementry. Their graves are close together near the front. Obituary of Mary Olive Davis: "Memorial "After many years of suffering the pitying Father said: "It is enough, dear child," and the wife and mother fell asleep. "Mary Olive, daughter of James and Amanda Davis, was born near Union Plains, Brown county, Ohio, November 12, 1847. She was one of a family of eight children. She completed life's journey at her own home near Buford, Ohio, March 25, 1912, aged 64 years, 4 months and 13 days. "While for many years she had been an invalid, yet always cheering, unselfish and so self sacrificing, that the passing throng did not realize the heroism of this uncomplaining woman. Methinks that heaven's diadem will be most beautiful for the one that so quietly bears the burdens in the heat of the day. She bore her suffering without a murmur or complaint. "She was united in marriage to Jacob A. Pitzer, June 28, 1868. To this couple life was promising and full of hope. Together they toiled and planned for the future. The wife was always ready to bear in patience and sweetness, her share of the cares and responsibilities of the home. God gave them ten children, all living except two sons, both dying in early childhood. "But now the home circle is broken, mother is not there. And as the door swings open and the sons and daughters go out to meet life's battles, blessed will be the memory of that dear wife and mother. "Her life's work is done. On this side of the river still lingers a dear husband, eight children, thirteen grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, and with these sorrowing ones, are countless friends. "Home is not home for mother is not there, but beyond our clouds, lies the home of the soul, the city whose builder and maker is God. Life when compared with eternity is as a quick star that flies across the sky or as a shadow at sunset. "We feel like our dear mother has gone to that everlasting rest where there is no pain, no sorrow, no death, no partings, and that our loss is her infinate gain. "Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Frank Foust, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Buford cemetery." |
