Note: Will of Daniel Roades - signed 28 Jul 1930, proven 24 Jun 1935 I Daniel Roades age 80 at my next birthday of Clay Township, Highland County Ohio being of sound and disposing mind and memory, considering the uncertainty of continuance in life, and desiring to make such provision of my worldly estate as I deem best, do make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all former wills and codicils whatsoever by me made. FIRST, I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as practicable after my decease. SECOND, I give and bequeath To my wife Mary E Roades all my Real Estate Viz, House and Lot or parcel of land adjoining the Village of Buford, Ohio. To have and to hold as her own, or to sell and dispose of as she deems fit. THIRD, I give the rimainder of my personal property to my five children namely Melvina J Martin, Cora M Luden, Esta Mock, H. V. Roades and Lizzie M Young, Equally share and share alike. FOURTH, I nominate and appoint Walter Mock to be the executor of this Will, IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand, this 28th day of July in the year one thousand nine hundred, thirty 1930 Daniel Roades Signed, published and acknowledged by the said Daniel Roades as and for his last will and testament, in our presence, and subscribed and attested by us, as witnesses, in his presence and at his request. Coffman Earl E Fender ________________________________________________ 1 Jul 98 From State Centennial History of Highland County, Ohio, pg. 449: "Daniel Roades, a highly successful farmer of Clay township known through the county, is a grandson of George Roades...Daniel Roades was born at the [Roades] home in Clay township, October 16, 1850, was educated in the district school, and on reaching manhood married Mary E., daughter of Isaac and Mary A. Reedy...Mr. Roades has prospered as a farmer, formerly owning over five hundred acres...In addition to agriculture he has carried on a business of fertilizers, and dealt quite extensively in stock and grain. His farm is well supplied with all varieties of stock, and he is in every way a progressive farmer and capable business man. In relation to the public he has rendered valuable service as township trustee and school director; he is deacon and treasurer of the Church of Christ, and a member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Buford and the Republican party."
