 18 Feb 03:
According to Jennifer Gordon Gray <[email protected]>, Henry Bascomb Gray's father may have been named Archibald Gray. He may have been a member of the extended Gray family who emigrated from Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania c1790 to Bourbon Co, Virginia, later Mason Co, Kentucky. Names associated with this Gray family include John, James, Matthew, Isaac and Andrew along with Archibald.
At least two Archibald Grays, a father and son, have been identified as belonging to this PA>KY(VA) family from Mason Co and Fleming Co deed records. According to Gray researchers at the Gray Femily GenForum, some of the Gray brothers and sons emigrated from Mason and Fleming Co, Kentucky to Clermont and Brown Co, Ohio. At least two Archibalds have been identified as having settled in that part of Ohio from census and cemetery records.
Henry Bascomb Gray may be the same person as Henry Gray born c1793, son of Archibald Gray (c1757-c1819) who settled in Clermont Co, Ohio. It appears that in 1840, he lived in Ohio Twp, Clermont Co, which is the same twp where several of Archibald Gray's sons lived.
