a. Note:   L.W. was born and raised in South Carolina. His father was a very large farmer in Neeses, South Carolina. Just like his father, he was a farmer. During WW2, he was inducted into the U.S. Army on 15 Dec 1944. He was en route to Japan when the war ended. He spent some time on the island of Okinawa, Japan. When he was released from active duty on 16 Dec 1946, he hitched rides and walked all the way from Fort, Bragg North Carolina to his home in Neeses, South Carolina. That was over 200 miles. While visiting his grandparents in Graniteville, South Carolina, he was introduced to Mary Irene Williams by his Cousin Raymond Phillips. In 1947 they were married. They lived just down the road from his parents. In 1949 they had their first child. (James). Irene really hated the country life. She was a feisty woman. It is said that she gave L.W. an ultimatum, "I am moving back to my hometown and you can either stay her or go with me. In 1953, L.W. started working for the Savannah River Plant in Barnwell South Carolina. He purchased some land in a place called Rabbit Hill. That is just a few miles from where Irene grew up. It took him three years to build the home. Irene got her wish, she left the country. The family moved from Neeses SC to their new home sometimes in 1955. L.W. worked in the Boiler Plants for "DUPONT Corporation" for 33 years.located in the Savannah River Area of South Carolina. He was a very smart man. He could build and fix most anything. He lived another 25 years after retirement. He passed away at the age of 85.
  L.W. is buried in the Sunset Memory Gardens in Graniteville, South Carolina.
