  Carroll Sentinel - May 14, 1900 - Claus R. Dreesen died at the home of his daughter, Sophia Best, in Jasper township, Sunday, May 6, at the age of 72, the cause of his death being old age more than anything else.
  The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Sheridan township, Rev, A. Discher of this city preaching the sermon. A large number of friends of the deceased attended the funeral.
  Claus R. Dreesen was born April 15, 1828, at Maeldorf, Germany, and was married April 1, 1843, to Margaret Catharine Wersig. In 1868 they came to America and in 1873 they settled in Sheridan township, this county. Ten children were born to them and they were all present at the funeral of their father.
  The aged wife also survives her life companion and is still in good health. The children are Mathew, John, Henry, Gustav, and Henry Dreesen, Mrs. Anna Fischer, Mrs. Amelia Wohlenberg, Miss Frieda Dreesen, Mrs. Sophia Best, and Mrs. Caroline Juergens, five boys and five girls.
  On the first of April last year the couple celebrated their golden wedding.
