a. Note:   George was in Greenbrier County in 1786 -- this part became Monroe County in 1799. Land grand records show George Alford acquiring 35 acres of land in on the north side of the Greenbrier River in Monroe County, (West) Virginia in September 1801. He left Monroe County in 1813 and was one of the pioneer settlers of Cabell County, and lived in that part which later became Lincoln County, West Virginia. The tax list for Cabell County, (West) Virginia shows George Alford listed on March 3, 1815.
